Mission
As he saw the crowds, his heart was filled with pity
for them, because they were worried and helpless, like sheep without
a shepherd. 37 So he said to his disciples, "The harvest is large,
but there are few workers to gather it in. 38 Pray to the owner of
the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest"
Matthew 9:36-38.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.1 Peter 4:8.
If someone is suddenly taken to a hospital; needs a meal; can no
longer drive to a doctor’s appointment; is alone and could use
someone to come and visit, Compassionate Care Ministry works jointly
in support and guidance of the Pastor and Diaconate Board. The
Congregational Care Team does not replace the Diaconate Ministry, it
is an added support for the ministry for caring for the congregation
as our congregation age the needs change and multiply. The
Congregational Care teams will get their contacts from
Pastor/Diaconate Ministry. The Congregational Care Ministry help to
identify needs, concerns and continually communicate these issues to
the Pastor/Diaconate Ministry.
The CCM is made up of several interconnected teams providing
everything from spiritual to practical support. The teams are:
● The Congregational Care Team,
fulfilling requests for meals, and compassionate care for members of
the congregation who are sick and shut in. The team is also
responsible for help to ensure educational events, in conjunction
with Christian Education Ministry and Pastor, and resources for the
congregation regarding Cancer, Dementia , Mental Health and other
resources.
Identify needs of the congregation and in consultation with Pastor
and Diaconate appropriate training, i.e., mental health, grief and
other appropriate training.
● The Visitation Team, fulfilling
requests for visitation of church members in their homes, at rehab
facilities and nursing homes as appropriate and accompany the
Diaconate and/or Pastor
● The Hospital Team, fulfilling requests
for pre-surgery prayer and conversation; food, other support needs
with families during surgery; being in attendance during
post-surgery follow-through; and visitation in hospitals. This team
provides support to, and in conjunction with – the Pastor and
Diaconate Ministry.
● Calling members and checking in them
and reporting back to Pastor/Diaconate
● The Hospitality Team
● Send cards of encouragement and other
special occasions to members, get well cards, encouragement cards,
birthday cards and other special occasions.
The CC ministry work together through close communications with the
Pastor/Diaconate. The teams' effective distribution of services is
only as good as the flow of information and requests coming into CCM.
Whether you are the person in need, or a friend or relative, you can
confidentially pass alone needs to the Pastor/Diaconate. We can meet
by Zoom and talk through details and a plan.
